A Tabriz master weavers rug from the famed 'Hadji Jalili' workshop. Carpets woven from this weaver are very fine in their execution, and were always made using excellent soft natural dyes that have mellowed beautifully. Woven in the last quarter of the 19th century this little rugs is in excellent original condition, with a good high wool pile. The cotton fringes have been stopped a long time ago using fabric on the back to prevent them coming undone. We have recently used antique cotton salvaged from similar rugs to professionally restore the side-cords or selvedges as they known.

Most antique Tabriz rugs would also have a central medallion, making this all over lattice design with small flowers an easy rug to place in any room and a rare find. Tabriz is a city located in the north-west of Persia, it was the major center for production of rugs and carpets.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire the UK & Europe by appointment. Please contact us with any questions, we will email you back promptly.
A good wool pile is still on this 130 year old rug, as these rugs were woven using the finest materials they are evidently very durable. The side-cords/selvedges have been professionally restored.
