This stunning antique Victorian brooch has been crafted in 15 ct yellow gold with a silver settings, in the form of a butterfly.

The head of this impressive antique butterfly brooch is embellished with two collet set cabochon rubies representing eyes.

The curled proboscis is crafted in 18ct yellow gold.

The shaped thorax of this impressive insect is ornamented with a feature Old European cut diamond and a smaller diamond.

The four pierced decorated wings are embellished with a combination of Old European and Dutch cut diamonds of various sizes depending on their position within the design (similar to that of a Mountain Apollo butterfly).

The segmented abdomen of this impressive creature is defined with five rows of Dutch cut diamonds, and the legs are realistically modelled in 15 ct yellow gold.

This Victorian brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and security clasp.

The insect brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading report certificate for the feature diamond, in addition to the independent diamond grading report card shown.

This fine example of Victorian craftsmanship has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 15 ct gold and silver.
