It has a fabulous burr walnut shaped top with exquisitely hand carved edge and an incredible hand carved solid walnut basket base.
The beautiful basket base has been hand carved from solid walnut. It has four carved cabriole legs each with it's original porcelain castor. The foliate carving on the base has been beautifully done and is the work of a Victorian master carver.
This item has been beautifully restored in our workshops.

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By the 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century.
They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp.
Edwards & Roberts specialised in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
Burr Walnut refers to the swirling figure present in nearly all walnut when cut and polished, and especially in the wood taken from the base of the tree where it joins the roots. However the true burr is a rare growth on the tree where hundreds of tiny branches have started to grow. Burr walnut produces some of the most complex and beautiful figuring you can find.
