The cylindrical portion of the body is fitted with a fine shaped, pierced decorated sterling silver mount.
The upper portion of the silver mount is ornamented with bright cut engraved acanthus leaf and scroll decoration, the lower supporting girdle is plain and unembellished.
The hallmarked hinged domed cover is embellished with bright cut engraved scroll decoration and surmounted with a very impressive figural finial realistically modelled in the form of a Roman soldier wearing typical cuirass armour and holding a staff and a vacant shield shaped cartouche.
This Victorian claret jug has a shaped sterling silver handle ornamented with bright cut engraved flower and leaf decoration to the handpiece and scrolling terminals.
This fine claret jug has a cast sterling silver acanthus leaf decorated spout.
The lower bulbous portion of the glass body of this antique jug is embellished with diagonal cross double prairie style cut glass decoration.
The heavily cut glass base of this unusual jug is ornamented with a large star cut decoration to the underside.
