The blown glass body of the jug has been modelled in the form of an ancient leather jug onto a circular spreading foot.
This antique glass jug is fitted with an impressive plain hallmarked sterling silver rim and spout.
The glass jug has a plain angular glass handle.
The original matching tumblers have a lobed cylindrical form onto a plain circular spreading foot.
Each piece of this very impressive set is embellished with acid etched decoration depicting a royal coronet amidst the initials 'CR'* in addition to the date '1646'.
* The crown and initials bear reference to the King Charles I, the monarch of England, Scotland and Ireland from March 1625 to January 1649.
