This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver fish flatware set for twelve persons consists of twelve fish knives and twelve fish forks.

The blade of each knife has a rounded, sabre style form and the forks have four tines.

The surface of the drop to each fork and each side of the knife blades are embellished with impressive bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration accented with a plain paralleling border; the posterior surface of the fork blade bears a simple border.

Each piece of this Victorian fish service is fitted with an exceptional and large carved mother of pearl handle ornamented with a spiraling design.

The upper portion of each handle is fitted with a sterling silver ferrule embellished with impressive fluted and bead ornamentationa, all in a swirl design.

Each piece is fitted to the fine and impressive original hinged walnut canteen box with a lift up lid and lift out tray.

This impressive canteen box is ornamented with brass fittings, including a vacant shaped cartouche and escutcheon.

Antique fish services with exceptional large handles are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

This antique Victorian fish service is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The presentation box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker.

Full hallmarks struck to the anterior surface of each knife and reverse of each fork are all very clear.
