The handle of each piece is embellished with the classic King's pattern ornamentation, including the shell design to the terminal, in addition to the central honeysuckle design.
The forks and spoons feature plain shoulders, in addition to bearing diamond shell heels.
This King's pattern cutlery service consists of 95 pieces:
12 Table knives
12 Table forks
6 Table/Serving spoons
12 Dessert knives
12 Dessert forks
12 Dessert spoons
Pair of sauce ladles
6 Egg spoons
4 Salt spoons
This impressive service benefits from a comprehensive range of serving pieces.
The fundamental pieces of this silver King's pattern cutlery set, including the impressive serving pieces but excluding the table and dessert knives**, have been crafted by the renowned cutlery makers Thomas Alfred Slater, Walter Brindsley Slater & Henry Arthur Holland of Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater in 1898; as expected with period flatware crafted in London, this canteen is a superior gauge of silver.
This exceptional comprehensive sterling silver flatware service is fitted to the original and impressive oak wood lift up lid canteen box with two lift out trays.
One tray of this impressive box accomodated a composite handled carving set which has not stood the test of time; this versatile vacant storage compartment has not been refitted to preserve the original period interior.
This antique presentation canteen box features a brass carrying handle to either end and a vacant cartouche to the cover.
* "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.
** Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.
