Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Four Piece Tea and Coffee Service
Offered by AC Silver
Each piece is embellished with two bands of bright cut engraved decoration surmounted by a thread decorated border following the contours of the incurved shaped edge.
The body of each component is further ornamented with bright cut engraved foliate garlands incorporating two oval cartouches; each cartouche is embellished with a shield shaped tri-floral crest surmounted with a visored tri-floral helmet.
The tea pot and coffee pot are fitted with flush hinged hallmarked covers which retain the original urn style silver finials.
Both covers are embellished with a bright cut engraved stellate design at the foot of the finial.
The sugar basket is fitted with the original hallmarked swing handle. The remaining pieces all have elegant thread decorated C scroll handles with impressive leaf decorated sockets.
The sugar basket and cream jug have silver gilt interiors.
This exceptional antique sterling silver four piece tea and coffee service is one of the best examples of its type.
The service was made by the renowned English silversmith Frederick Elkington of Elkington & Co.
