The well of this fine antique silver plate is plain and unembellished.
The shaped border is ornamented with a fine and impressive contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting two lion supports to an escutcheon with a cross-moline, all above the motto 'Vivere Est Vincere' - To live is to win.
The border is further embellished with impressive applied scrolling leaf and floral motifs to each incurve.
The underside of this collectable plate bears the retailer's mark 'Garrards, Panton Street, London'
This Victorian plate was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Robert Garrard II, subsequently R & S Garrard & Co.
