Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Spirit Kettle
Offered by AC Silver
The surface of the kettle is embellished with bright cut engraved stylised interlacing leaf motifs to each corner accented with a central bordered cartouche to each side.
The cartouches to either side of the body are vacant, the remaining two are ornamented with a quatrefoil shaped floral motif.
The protruding portions of the silver spirit kettle are embellished with quatrefoil motifs amidst a scrolling border with trefoil leaf terminals.
The upper and lower portions of the body are encompassed with a bright cut engraved quatrefoil shaped border accented with a plain paralleling outline, all below a subtle scalloped border.
The upper plateau of the body is embellished with eight scrolling leaf designs, four to each edge and four to the upper potion of the protruding portions.
This antique silver kettle is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover encircled with further quatrefoil motifs, identical to that of the body.
The cover is surmounted with the original sterling silver finial encompassed with bright cut engraved scalloped decoration.
This fine example of antique teaware is fitted with an impressive sterling silver tiered, angular handle with scrolling terminals and leaf decorated sockets.
The kettle detaches from the original hallmarked sterling silver stand, supported by four impressive cast sterling silver rams legs with scrolling leaf decorated feet.
The upper portion of each leg is embellished with a rams head ornamentation above a pensile bud festoon.
The stand is further ornamented with a tied leaf festoon between each leg accented to the centre with a cast medallion displaying a bearded man.
The stand incorporates a plain frame which retains the original hallmarked detachable spirit burner incorporating a hinged snuffer.
The spirit kettle stand is fitted with the original chains and security pegs.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp in keeping with age; there is some minor wear to the upper portion of the reverse surface, this does not detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance of the kettle.
The cast decoration to the stand is all very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the kettle, stand and spirit burner in addition to the part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of Victorian teaware.
