The body of the teapot is embellished with two fine and impressive scroll and leaf bordered cartouches flanked with a scrolling leaf and floral design to either side.
The cartouche to one side displays the contemporary bright cut engraved initials ‘IC’ and a crest depicting a wolf’s head erased and collared to the other.
This teapot is fitted with a hallmarked hinged domed cover ornamented with an impressive applied scroll and leaf decorated border to the shaped rim.
The cover retains the fine and impressive original hallmarked sterling silver bud and foliate finial, securing to the interior with a wing nut.
The impressive hallmarked opposing scroll handle is ornamented with a large single leaf design which is incorporated into the shaped thumbpiece.
The upper and lower scrolling sockets are embellished with impressive chased leaf ornamentation in junction with the body of the teapot.
The impressive swan necked spout is ornamented with further chased decorated scroll and leaf designs with a single leaf motif to the upper portion of the lip and pendant drop to the nadir of the socket.
The shaped rim of the spreading foot is ornamented with a corresponding scrolling border to that of the cover.
This exceptional antique teapot was crafted by the collectable and renowned London silversmiths Edward & John Barnard.
