The surface of the tray is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a dragon's head couped, holding in the mouth an axe, all above the motto 'Suaviter Sed Fortiter - Softly but strongly/Mildy but Firmly'.
The raised border of this antique tea tray is ornamented with applied gadroon decoration to the rim.
This William IV silver tray is fitted with a fine pair of twin gadroon decorated handles ornamented with impressive scrolling leaf designs to the terminals.
