Art Deco credenza in Amboyna wood, attributed to Paul Follot. A stepped top above a large central cupboard, flanked by demi lune side cupboards. Four fine carved and glided floret pilasters of geometric design, incorporating the "Follot Rose", am often prominent feature on his work. The cabinet terminating in tapering square section feet. A bold rosewood cross banded inlaid decoration to both top and bottom of the cabinet. Inside the cupboards, fitted in maple, with shelving, typical of Follot. A plain maple panelled back to the cabinet. Reg mark 23238. X2307
Paul Follot was an influential French cabinet maker , and designer of the Art Deco period. Working in Paris throughout the first quarter of the 20th century, with rare and exotique woods and gold, bronze friezes, he co founded "L Art dans Tout", a group of artists and architects who wanted tp promote decorative arts. Designing not only furniture, but objects of silver, lighting, textiles, carpets, ceramics, and bronze as well as jewellery.
