Rare original vintage car racing poster issued by Castrol motor oil. Part of a series published to advertise world records achieved by cars and airplanes using this brand. This one features an image of Captain George Edward Thomas Eyston and his record breaking car, Speed of the Wind (1935, 1936). George Eyston is best known for the land speed records set in his car, Thunderbolt (1937, 1938) vs John Cobb's car, Railton. Between 1937 and 1939 Eyston set three new land speed records, wresting them from Malcolm Campbell's Blue Bird. The poster mentions 3 world records using Castrol oil and Rolls Royce engines set on a run on the Utah Salt Flats (Bonneville Speedway) in July 1936. Printed by Blades, East & Blades Ltd London. Very good condition, minor paper loss on corners, backed on linen.
