An early Della Robbia art pottery two handled vase with bulbous body tapering to a slender neck. The shape name "Algerian" dated for 1895 and initialed AS by the artist Annie Smith with painted scrolling decoration in yellow, green and light brown.
Some glaze flaking on the collar restored.

Della Robbia was a short lived art pottery set up within the context of the Arts & Crafts movement. Among the names of the founding council were Edward Burne Jones, Ford Maddox Brown, Walter Crane, G F Watts and Holman Hunt.
The body and arms of the vase are sound. Some minor glaze flaking on the collar has had restoration and been repainted.
