A delicately modelled pottery figure by Charles Vyse titled "The Morning Ride" introduced in 1925.

Charles Vyse was born into a Staffordshire family that had been involved in the pottery industry for many generations. He was apprenticed to Doultons as a modeller and designer, and won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art (1905-1910) where he studied sculpture and gained a travelling scholarship to Italy (1909). He was subsequently elected a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (1911) and attended the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (1912).
Charles Vyse married Nell Vyse in 1911 and they worked together during the inter-war years making colourful figurines of London characters sold in limited editions. They also made two types of studio pottery: one based on the revival of oriental forms and glazes and the other hand-decorated functional stoneware in modernist 'art deco' designs. Nell contributed by developing glazes which recreated early chinese glazes.
