Attributed to Enoch Seeman the Younger (Poland 1694-1745 London). Portrait of a Lady, seated in a landscape wearing a white gown with red cloak. C. 1720. Oil on canvas in a period giltwood frame.

Enoch Seeman the Younger was born in Danzig in Poland in 1694. His Father, Enoch the Elder was also a painter and took him to London in 1704. One of Enoch's first commissions was a group portrait of the Bissett family - his style heavily influenced by that of Kneller. He became painter to the British Court and in 1730 he completed a portrait of George I in his coronation robes and also George II some years later. His last and largest work was of 'The Lady Cust and her nine children' in 1743, now at Belton House in Lincolnshire.
