Considered the greatest classical prima ballerina of all time,Dame Margot Fonteyn established a highly successful partnership with Sir Robert Helpmann during the war years. Sir Robert Helpmann choreographed Hamlet to the music of Tchaikovsky's 'Fantasy Overture'. It re-tells part of the Shakespearean tragedy through the mind of the dying Hamlet.

Margot Fonteyn joined the Vic-Wells Ballet School in 1933. She became one of the principal dancers in Swan Lake,Giselle and The Sleeping Beauty and was elevated to prima ballerina. Her role as Aurora in Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty was considered one of her finest performances.
