A 19th century mahogany cased stick barometer with paper register plate

The attractive inlaid case with carved fret pediment having a scale registering from stormy to very dry and numbered from 28 to 31 and thermometer with enclosed cistern below.
Original condition. Working order.
Angle barometers by him are listed in Museum of History of Science, Oxford, National Maritime Museum, Greenwich and Bolling Hall Museum, Bradford.
Charles Howarth, fl. 1823-1852 lived at Ireland Farm near Shibden Industrial School, Halifax. He was succeeded by his son James and a grandson carried on the business.
