A Georgian mahogany cased mercurial wheel barometer and thermometer.
The barometer is engraved on the dial 'Lione & Somalvico, Brook Street, Holborn, London.
The case is decorated with a circular inlaid flower at the base and top and an inlaid conch shell either side of the thermometer.
The edge of the barometer has a pair of line inlays of boxwood and ebony.
The slim alcohol thermometer is on the Fahrenheit scale and is held against a silvered scale in a mahogany case with a glass cover.
The barometer has an architectural pediment with a brass urn in the centre.
Dominick Lione and Joseph Somalvico were in partnership between 1805 -1819 and initially worked from 125 Holborn Hill in London(1805-1807) and then from 14 Brook St, Holborn, London until 1819. They are recorded as one of the several Italian barometer makers in London at the turn of the 18th - 19th century, making better than average barometers.
The barometer is working and in good original condition.
