Used for creating grooves in cabinet making. Moulded fence block and brass mounted arms and adjusting nuts. Wedges fully intact on both arms and blade. Fitted with blade numbered 6.
Impressed maker’s name BUCK, 261 EDGWARE ROAD, LONDON, and carpenter’s name J.W.GODFREY.
George Henry Buck operated out of this address between 1869 and 1909, with the claim that his father had established the toolmaking business in 1824. In 1910, Buck went into partnership with George Ryan. The firm of Buck & Ryan still trades today in Tottenham Court Road, with the reputation of being the premier tool retailer and cutler ancestral London.
