Birth of the Prince of Wales, silver medal, 1630, four heart shaped shields of England, Scotland France and Ireland united in the centre, radiations between the shields. HACTENUS ANGLORUM NULLI, (HITHERTO TO NONE OF THE ENGLISH), rev. an ornamental oval tablet, IN . HONOR CARO PRINC MAG BRI FR ET HI NAT 29 MAII 1630, (IN HONOUR OF THE PRINCE OF GREAT BRITAIN, FRANCE AND IRELAND BORN MAY 29 1630), 24 mm, (MI. 254/36). Good very fine.

Struck to commemorate the birth of Charles 11. Charles was the first English Prince, born in England, who was entitled to bear these arms. The radiations between the shields are supposed to allude to the appearance of a star, the planet Venus, which was observed by the naked eye at the time the King was proceeding to St. Paul's to return thanks for the birth of his son.
