A fine English striking Carriage Clock by this noted maker.
The Four Glass Case, veneered with richly patinated rosewood has a tapered and scrolled brass carrying handle and brass bun feet. The silvered and engraved dial has fine foliate engraved corners blued steel moon hands have double cross decoration.
The Movement, of the usual high quality expected from this maker, has turned pillars, substantial brass plates, chain fusees and maintaining power. The hours are struck on a coiled gong and the lever platform is visible through the top bevelled glass. The two winding arbors and hand adjustment lever are mounted through the signed and numbered backplate.
* Henry Blundell was a fine maker working in the early Victorian period. He is listed on page 25 of Brian Loomes’s Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as being active in London between 1831 and 1851.
