A Very Unusual British Colonial Silver Mounted, Coromandel Wood and Carved
Coquilla Nut Erotic Toddy Ladle
The mounts decorated with floral sprays and an armorial depicting a phoenix rising from flames and the motto ‘AD Sidera Vultus’

Size: 32cm long – 12½ ins long
The exotic coquilla nut has been carefully carved, perhaps by a sailor, to show a lady leaning over, her skirts lifted to reveal her nakedness. In the 18th century secret cabinets of erotica were formed of both ancient and modern erotic art to provide excitement and amusement for the gentleman collector. Certainly this object is at once both amusing and erotic.
