Bronze statue of an artist standing holding his palette and mahlstick in his left hand. He is dressed in a fur coat and fur cap in contemporary 19th century fashion. The round base is signed SALMSON. The French sculptor Jean Jules Salmson (1823-1902) worked in Paris and participated in the French Salon exhibitions from 1859. He was rewarded in some years with medals for his work, as he did when he participated in the World Exhibitions of 1867 and 1889 in Paris.
