A shallow turned burr poplar wood charger.
Tony Page, 73, has been sculpting curved wooden pieces since he was a 16-year-old lad in Roxwell. He took an apprenticeship in wood-turning when he left school and forged a career in the furniture business, building legs on sofas and chairs to the point where he had his own factory and shop in Chelmsford.
He moved out to Sawyers Road, Little Totham, when he retired, for a slower pace of life and was able to concentrate solely on turning ornate trinkets like bowls and imitation fruit.
