A shallow, barrel shaped tray, entirely hand carved and dug out from a single piece of sycamore, that would probably have been used in a butcher’s shop, either for the display of meat or for carrying it about the shop. Nowadays it would make a useful and decorative receptacle for kindling or small logs.
English, sycamore, circa 1840
