Carved Regency Rosewood Marble Top Breakfront Side Cabinet
c. 1826 Engish
Offered by Freshfords Fine Antiques
The slightly projecting ends also have sausage and pea moulding. Rectangular rosewood doors with brass grills and "pencil" silk pleated panels, open to reveal adjustable shelved interiors. The doors are flanked by wonderful free standing solid rosewood columns with lappet and acanthus carved detail and carved floral paterae. The cabinet is raised on wonderful quality carved rosewood bun feet with concealed castors and with solid rosewood ends. This side cabinet is almost certainly by Gillows of Lancaster although un-marked. It also bears what appears to be an original label to the reverse saying "Townhead" which is a house in the Lake District which was thought to have been furnished by Gillows of Lancaster.
