Charles Samson began by studying literature but soon abandoned this path to devote himself to drawing, learning from the Parisian illustrator Charles Jouas.

First a cartoonist, this ocuppation became his profession and publishing art books. A publisher called Lighter Hours, who were sensitive to the poetry of our artist, commissioned him for a series of illustrations of cathedrals in France .

Our drawings, for their part, come from a series of seven commissioned by the writer and historian Rene Normand for publication on Amiens and the Picardy area.
