Chair
This is a fine example of an English Elm and Oak Primitive Chair, circa 1780, of delightful proportions and a lovely sculptural shape. The curved Arm bow is all in one piece and is of nicely figured Elm. The seat is of Burr Elm and is of good colour and has wonderful tight figuring from the Burr. The slab “sticks” in the back and the three slab legs are of Oak. It has a most interesting construction as while it clearly has not been made by a specialist chair maker, it is extremely skilfully constructed and may well have been made by a Cooper or a Wheelwright
