This early 18th century chest-on-stand is a lovely small size, only just over 50" high, and has beautiful colour and patination. It is constructed in oak, with figured walnut veneers and feather-banding to the drawer fronts, and faint remains of faux wood-graining to parts of the base. The upper part of the chest has two short drawers at the top, with three graduated long drawers beneath; the base is original and has a handsome pronounced waist moulding, with a long single drawer beneath, over bold chamfered S-scroll legs joined by elegant wavy stretchers, with small bun feet beneath; the brass drop-pulls and escutcheons are largely original. English, circa 1710.
