A fine Chippendale period mahogany bureau cabinet of compact dimensions and of fine colour and patina. The cabinet top with scrolling swan neck pediment with gilded highlights and a fretwork supports with a central fluted tablet and a moulded cavetto cornice. Below the single scrolling outline door fitted with beveled mirror plate opens to reveal an arrangement of adjustable shelves. The lower bureau section with lockable fall which opens to reveal a checker strung central cupboard door and adjacent drawers with an arrangement of six pigeon holes. Below four long graduated, graduated oak lined drawers fitted with rococo style handles and supported on ogee bracket feet. A fabulous piece of excellent quality throughout, with excellent original colour and above all under 31” wide.

Mr J L Rose was an ardent collector in the sixties, regularly frequenting fairs like Grosvenor House. We are delighted to be able to offer several notable pieces from his collection. This piece bears a Grosvenor House exhibition label dated 1953.
