A fine English George III Chippendale period mahogany cellaret of excellent original colour and patina. The body of slightly tapering octagonal shape, the hinged top opening to reveal the original lead lined interior with accommodation for 8 bottles with a central champagne or ice compartment, externally with a pair of substantial brass lifting handles, a cast brass knob and lock escutcheon. The cellaret stands on four moulded legs with delicate fretwork “ears” and terminating in brass castors. This is not only one of the best cellarets we have had it is probably one of the best we have seen.
Excellent. Minor old restorations, cleaning & waxing. Brassware appears to be original.
