A fine English George III Chippendale period mahogany chest on chest, of excellent original colour and patina. The moulded Greek key cornice over a delicate blind fret frieze and canted corners. Below two short oak lined cock-beaded drawers over three long graduated drawers bordered by canted blind fret corners. The bottom half with three long graduated drawers again bordered by blind fret canted corners. The chest appears to retain its original cast brass swan neck handles and is supported on prominent stepped ogee bracket feet. Fretting, blind fret work and elaborate carving were used in pieces designed and made by Thomas Chippendale. The blind fret work, excellent colour, patina & overall quality adds to the charm of this piece.
Excellent. Minor repairs to veneers. Other minor old restorations. Handles appear to be original.
