A superb Chippendale period mahogany serpentine card table, of really excellent original colour & patina. The superbly figured serpentine side & fronted top with molded edge, cross-banded and strung with box & ebony. The top opens to reveal a baize lined playing surface, with one rear leg swinging through 90 degrees to support it. The frieze with flame veneered mahogany section panels and classical Chippendale front shaped C-scroll ears. The table is supported by shaped fluted legs. Wonderful, with some of the best colour & patina we have seen on a card table.
Excellent. Cleaning and waxing, minor restorations. The baize playing surface has been replaced.
From a private residence in Berkshire.
