The case of well patinated mahogany has a shallow chamfer top surrounded by an urn finial and stands on four brass ball feet. It has brass moulded quarter panels and a Greek dentil moulding to the cornice and base.
The painted convex dial 8 inches in diameter has Roman hour numerals, a double minute circle and a Strike/Silent lever above XII. The maker’s signature is written above and below the centre. The pierced brass hands appear to be original as is the painted surface of the dial.
The 8 Day double fusee movement is very elegantly engraved on the substantial backplate with the maker’s signature. It has an original anchor escapement with heavy brass bob to the pendulum with inverted rating screw and hour strike on a bell with pull repeat and Strike/Silent.
Height excluding centre finial: 16 ½ in (42 cm)
