Circle of Pierre Gobert (Fontainebleau 1662-1744 Paris) Pair of charming 17th century portraits of two ladies of the French court. Oval oil on canvases in period giltwood frames.
Dimensions: 40x 32cm (16 x 12in)

Pierre Gobert was a French painter born in Fontainebleau and was the son of the sculptor Jean II Gobert. He entered the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris in 1701 as a portraitist. During the reign of Louis XIV he became the preferred painter of the ladies of the Court, producing a large number of portraits during this time.
