Roy Turner Durrant studied at Camberwell School of Art 1948-52. At this time his work was influenced by the Neo Romantic painters and his subjects inspired by the orchards and villages of Suffolk.

Durrant's move towards abstraction began in the 1950's which continued throughout his career. This painting dated 1955 is an example of his transitional style from landscape to abstraction and you can see a suggestion of natural forms, perhaps a flowering hedgerow.

This painting is framed in a hand made painted gesso and gold leaf frame.
