This unusual creamware coffee pot has stylistic similarities with that referenced in Griffin* p.131 No.5, for example the coffee pot we offer for sale has baluster dimensions of similar proportions, a reeded handle with satyr masks (but the satyr figures are not so prominent on the illustration) and a strainer spout.

That being said, it has the characteristics of a North European creamware.

There are also stylistic differences; the cover of this coffee pot has a much more pronounced dome and it is surmounted with a floriform knop.

Certainly, it is somewhat unusual to find two satyr masks on such a pot.

The front of the pot is painted with a naive representation of a Chinese worker possibly hauling in a net from a river, with buildings in the middle distance and mountains in the distance.
There is some fritting to the domed cover and the spout, to which there appears to have been some restoration. Inside the pot, around the lower part of the lozenge shaped strainer, there appears to be a small firing crack.
