The interior is lined in a blue velvet and features fifteen glass bottles with silver-gilt engraved lids, each with the monogram F.S. These are attributed to Thomas Johnson and hallmarked, London, 1864. Most of the bottles are housed in a removable tray which when lifted reveals and stunning, fully fitted tool tray which contains various silver-gilt and mother of pearl tools. One the back edge of the open box is a makers plaque which reads:
W. Thornhill Manufacturer to the Royal Family 144 New Bond Str. London
The front of the box features a separate locking drawer which provides further blue velvet lined storage. Removing the drawer completely allows access to the secret jewellery tray which is housed above the drawer. This can be removed be reaching just into the top of the drawers compartment and operating a latch near the front edge.
Secret hidden Jewellery tray features five lidded velvet lined compartments with two especially for sovereigns.
This exquisite Antique Dressing case comes with a fully working Bramah locks and tasselled keys.
