The Alfred Pollentine's canvases, represent a couple of Venice landscape, one the Canal Grande, and the other the Santa Maria della Salute church with the Punta della dogana.Alfred Pollentine, an English artist, focused his works of art on the themes of Venetian views and English coasts. His paintings are topographic portraits of landscapes, often purchased by Grand Tour travelers as a reminder of these places. Pollentine exhibited his works at the British Institution and at Socity of British Artists from 1861 to 1880. The analyzed compositions are rich in descriptive details and spatial details in search of representations as true as possible. Both canvases are animated by the presence of gondolas, sails and small figures that govern the boats or walk around. At the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle there are two Pollentine's paintings depicting views of Venice.
