on top signed E.Bartoux, Editeur, Rue Serpente, Paris. It is surmounted by a black sphere with pointed top. Below the globe is a brass cross bar which, together with the globe, rests on a ringed blued steel column.
Immediately below this is a single train clock with a silvered chapter ring and Roman numerals . To the left of this is a quite large dark bronzed anchor with gilded chain that carries a thermometer. Adjoining this is a compass. On the other side of the clock is an aneroid barometer and behind this a device, possibly for raising a boom.
The whole rests on an attractive mottled green onyx base which in turn is supported by a substantial moulded brass plinth which rests on heavy brass feet. The whole clock has been executed to a very high standard.
