The ormolu mounted boulle case is of the finest quality and must have been very time consuming and demanding to make, some of the inlaid brass-work being of extreme delicacy. The beautifully engraved dial is a fine feature of the clock. There are three subsidiary dials in the arch for chime/silent; fast/slow and the choice of Westminster or eight bell chimes.
The triple fusee movement is one of the most impressive we have seen and only just squeezes into the case, incorporating as it does provision for quarter chiming on either 8 bells or 4 gongs. It is not signed but was probably made by one of the leading makers such as Ellicott, Smith or Thwaites who supplied movements to other clockmakers.
