The single train fusee movement, with arch topped plates, is provided with a pendulum clamp. The lower part of the silvered dial, with Roman numerals, contains James Whitelaws signature within a very finely engraved cartouche. The attention to detail on this case and in particular the inlaid brasswork is most impressive.
James Whitelaw, who was born circa 1776, worked at Register Street from 1820-1846, when he died.
