The highly figured mahogany banjo shaped case with ebony strung edge with moulded break arch top and turned brass finial.
The round 6 inch dial is signed by the maker Dolland London and has the characteristic states of the weather which are graduated from 28 inches stormy up to 31 inches very dry.
The trunk has a hygrometer dial at the top with thermometer below and levelling dial at the bottom of the case with delicate foliate decoration to the centre.
