Fine and rare, late 18th Century inlaid mahogany Wheel Barometer in essentially original condition; the elegantly proportioned and richly patinated case inset with well engraved silvered brass Fahrenheit thermometer and 8 inch diameter main barometer dial, signed by the maker, and protected by glass cover with rare chevron-banded turned wooden bezel. The case with arched top, cross-grained, chequer-strung and inlaid with oval and round marquetry paterae. The mechanism contains rare ivory wheel.


A leading Italian immigrant Barometer maker recorded as working from addresses in Ely Court, Holborn from around 1785.
