exceptional state of preservation.
The Arched Dial 5 ½ inches by 3 ¾ inches and beautifully engraved with scrolling leaves is signed as above on a boss in the arch. Silvered chapter ring engraved with Roman numerals and simple ½ hour divisions. The alarm disc in the well matted centre is engraved with the traditional Arabic numerals and is set against the tail of the pierced, blued steel hand.
The Case is remarkable in retaining both of its original, lift out side doors on which is repeated the engraving on the dial plate with rather more elaborate flourishes, together with the securing catches. In contrast with the usual, and sometimes rather crude spikes or spurs, they are here of brass with carefully chamfered edges and points. The clock is suspended from a cut-out in the extended top plate.
The Verge Movement of 30 hours duration has a chain drive to the going train and rope to the alarm which sounds on the top mounted bell by means of a well shaped, double ended hammer.
