Irish, Mahogany Grandfather clock by George Martin, Limerick. Circa 1800.

A beautiful mahogany longcase with discreet string inlay, note the lattice work on the case beneath the dial which is a typical feature of the south of Ireland.

This Martin movement is eight-day, weight-driven and will strike the hours on a bell. The square brass dial displays roman and Arabic numerals, Martin's signature and city of work - Limerick, decorative spandrels and hands.

This Irish clock has wonderful colour and proportion and is one of the later brass dials, not many to be found from this period.

George Martin is noted as working in Mary St., Limerick and his clock is for sale now in fully mechanical restored condition and guaranteed for one year. As with all of our clocks we arrange nationwide and worldwide delivery.
