Early 19th century mahogany wheel barometer of high quality and refined detail; the 10" dial inscribed 'Schmalcalder, 82 Strand, London'*. The case finely crossbanded in satinwood, fitted with a bow-fronted thermometer and surmounted by a swan's-neck pediment with ivory paterae and urn finial. *Charles Augustus Schmalcalder is known to have been working at this address from 1806 - 40.
Both the cabinet work and barometer works are of the highest quality.
