This is a fine English fusee wall clock by the famous firm of (George)Yonge and Son London which would date circa 1820. This firm made clocks for the Lord High Admiral and were in business from 1820-1828.
Over the years I have seen several clocks made by Yonge and they are always of the finest quality with excellent proportions.
Such clocks are very rare and difficult to source particularly in this kind of condition.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of my clocks.I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.
Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
The shouldered plate fusee driven movement is of 8 day duration and is made of the finest London quality which has been professionally serviced and is in perfect working order.
The overall colour is outstanding and the patina is perfect.
The 12 inch painted dial is in excellent condition and has the very unusual and early feature of being attached to the wooden bezel by dial feet secured by taper pins as opposed to the usual method of screws
The overall condition is outstanding being original and well looked after.
There is ,of course, the odd age related mark as you would expect on any item of this age but the condition is a good as anyone could possibly expect.
The dial is in excellent condition and has the advantage of a little age related cracking which greatly enhances the effect and cannot be replicated by totally re-painted dials. It is signed by the maker and the blued steel hands are original. The cast brass locking convex bezel is very nice and the amount of mahogany surround visible is very small indeed..
Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks very impressive on the wall.Prospective buyers are encouraged to view this clock if at at possible
It is a total of 22 inches in length and 13 1/2 inches wide to the edge of the wooden bezel . The cabinet is 5 inches deep.
If the asking price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide.
Domestic buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible.
